Under God's Wings (Psalm 91) Part 3

Promised Exaltation (verses 14-16)

14“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
         I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15He will call on me, and I will answer him;
         I will be with him in trouble,
      I will deliver him and honor him.
16With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

The crowning gifts of glory are seen in the face of our Lord Jesus Christ. In him we find the fullness and depth of God’s redemption. Our relationship with God finds expression in our communion with Him. God will reveal Himself in His love and His glory to those who commit themselves to Him in trust.

Thank You, exalted God, that You will deliver us and protect us. You will satisfy us and show us Your salvation. Thank You that when we call to You, You answer us. Thank You that You are with us in our troubles. Thank You for ultimately rescuing us and honoring us.

Under His wings I am safely abiding;
Though the night deepens and tempests are wild,
Still I can trust Him—I know He will keep me;
He has redeemed me and I am His child.

Under God's Wings (Psalm 91) Part 2

Protected Saint (verses 3-13)

3Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare
         and from the deadly pestilence.
4He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
         his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,
      6nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
         nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
8You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.
9If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
         and you make the Most High your dwelling,
         10no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.
11For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you
         in all your ways;
      12they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

God’s steadfast love and the certainty that He keeps His promises will protect and sustain us in the face of the hard realities of life. When we abide in the shadow of the Almighty, His care is both tender and sufficient. While God does not always deliver us from every particular danger, no one can touch us unless God allows it. May we rest in the confidence that everything happens with His knowledge. We will conquer our strongest and most cunning foes by trusting God, who will ultimately have complete victory.

Lord God, our Protector, deliver us from the snares of the enemy. May we find refuge under Your wings. We will not fear the night nor the day. Because we have made You our dwelling place, we know that Your angels will guard us. They will bear us up. Thank You.

Under God's Wings (Psalm 91) Part 1

May we dwell under God’s wings and draw our strength from Him. May our mighty God be our protection and salvation.

Mighty God (verses 1-2)

1Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
         will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2I will say of the Lord,
      “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

God is with us, and we are safe with Him. The Most High, the Almighty, the Lord is the ground of our faith, our spiritual fortress. His presence is our peace and our protection. God is our safe resting-place where no harm can reach us. In Him we trust.

Mighty God, we long to dwell in Your shelter and abide in Your shadow. You are our refuge and our fortress, our God, in whom we trust.
