God of the Covenant (Psalm 89, Part 3)

The Judgment of the Covenant (verses 38-52)

We can ask God challenging questions, stating our case as strongly as possible. When the church no longer separates itself from the world, God will no longer have a dwelling-place within her. Yet the church is the hope of the world. Our Covenant God will remember the cause of Christ, and our God of truth will destroy false doctrine. May God be blessed forever.

How long, O Lord, will You hide Yourself? Where is Your steadfast love of old? Blessed be You, Lord our God, forever! Amen and Amen.

Hope of all the earth Thou art;
Dear desire of every nation,
Joy of every longing heart.

God of the Covenant (Psalm 89, Part 2)

The People of the Covenant (verses 15-37)

As the people of God’s covenant we join creation in praising our Redeemer. God hates sin too much not to address it; but He loves His saints too much not to chastise us. God’s love outweighs His judgment.

Lord our God, we exult Your name. You are the glory of our strength. You are our Father, our God, and the Rock of our salvation. Your steadfast love and Your covenant like the moon will stand firm for us forever.

God of the Covenant (Psalm 89, Part 1)

May this psalm drive us to the New Testament, where we find God’s Covenant fulfilled. We can then beseech God for the mercy He promises.

The God of the Covenant (verses 1-14)

God’s covenant love for His people gives us a theme song that will never be out of date. May our faith cause us to look beyond our circumstances to the One who has all power in heaven and on earth. The more of His glories we see, the more humbly we prostrate ourselves before His Majesty.

Lord God, we will sing of Your steadfast love forever. We praise Your faithfulness in our assemblies! You are mighty. The heavens are Yours; the world and all that is in it. Righteousness and justice are Your foundation. Cause Your steadfast love and faithfulness to go before us.
