Remembering (Psalm 106, Part 2)

Remember Egypt (verses 7-42)
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+106%3A7-42&version=NIV

How easily we forget God and turn to idols—money, success, pleasure. We sacrifice our children to fashion, wealth, and entertainment. We must not deal leniently with this idol worship. If we mix with the world it will become our master. May we diligently plead with God for the guilty world around us, and our own sin. Sinful life is religious prostitution and  sinfulness is as real in God’s people as in the rest of humanity. May we grasp the power of intercessory prayer, not forgetting the miracle of our redemption.

O Lord God do not withdraw from us. Remember the grace You promised to sinners through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Enlighten our eyes to see the abomination of sin. Keep us from idol worship. Help us to avoid all manner of evil, and flee to the cross of Christ, our only refuge.

Remembering (Psalm 106, Part 1)

Between the beginning and ending of praise we read the sad details of Israel’s sins and God’s extraordinary patience. In spite of Israel’s disobedience and wandering from God, God remembered. When they obeyed, they saw God’s strength and goodness; when they disobeyed, they saw God’s judgment and grace.

Remember God (verses 1-6)

When people forget God’s acts of kindness, they drift away from Him. Yet His loyal love is everlasting. The effect of God’s remembering is salvation and restoration. He has blessed us with spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus. When we confess our remembered sin, God expresses His goodness in His mercy that endures forever. Since we do not cease to be sinful, we are blessed because God does not cease to be merciful. May we respond with praise.

Many, Lord our God, are Your wonderful works. We thank You for Your great loving-kindness toward us. We praise You, for You are good. Your love endures forever. Who can proclaim Your mighty acts or fully declare Your praise? Help us to act justly and do what is right. Remember us and show us favor. We have sinned; we have done wrong and acted unwisely. Yet You still invite us to enjoy the prosperity of Your chosen ones. We give You all our praise.

God Delivers Israel: Making Known God's Deeds (Psalm 105, Part 3)

The Inheritance (verses 43-45)

God led His people into the promised land because of His mercy and grace. He showers favors on us that we might rejoice in our God. We keep God’s precepts to express our gratitude for the inheritance He has provided.

Loving God, we praise You that You have delivered us out of the kingdom of darkness, and made us heirs of everlasting light. Help us to keep Your statutes and observe Your laws. With praise we receive Your inheritnce. Praise You, Lord God!

Through each perplexing path of life
Our wandering footsteps guide;
Give us each day our daily bread
And raiment fit provide.

God Delivers Israel: Making Known God's Deeds (Psalm 105, Part 2)

The Deliverance (verses 16-42)
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+105%3A16-42&version=NIV

Just as Joseph went through slavery and imprisonment and Christ went through Calvary; we too experience suffering. Egypt’s greatest suffering came in the dead of night when every Egyptian house wailed its firstborn son! Darkness still covers the earth as the result of sin. May those who live in darkness soon see a great light. Having delivered His children, God housed them and fed them His food. Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life, has a house of many mansions for us.

Thank You that You, Lord our God, deliver Your people. We give thanks to You, Lord, for You are good. You shelter us and give us our daily bread. We remember Your holy promises.
