God Exalts (Psalm 75), Part 1

Psalm 75 provides God’s answer to the questions and despair of Psalm 74. We too often seek to exalt ourselves, but it is God who exalts. The God of creation rules with absolute righteousness. He brings down the arrogant and exalts the humble. In the midst of opposition may we, God’s community, look to Him for justice and deliverance.

While God will condemn evil deeds, He is graciously ready to forgive sin. May we give God, an ever-present help in trouble, our unceasing thanks and adoration. Not only our great Creator, God also sustains our universe, providing stability. He judges justly at the right time. God will intervene when He sees fit, and His judgments are always just. God warns the boastful and the wicked—a word from Him quickly lowers the lofty. We dare not speak defiantly against God.

We praise You, God, for You are near us. We tell of all You have done for us. Come, Lord Jesus, and sit on Your throne to judge the world with equity. Thank You that You are in ultimate control over our universe.
