Worship the Lord Our Holy God (Psalm 99, Part 1)

God’s threefold holiness is marked as praise, exaltation, and worship. We worship the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who reigns on earth. May all the peoples of the world join the angels in praising, exalting and worshiping the Lord our holy God.

Praise Our Reigning Lord, Who Is to Come (verses 1-3)

1The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble;
         he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake.
2 Great is the Lord in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations.
3 Let them praise your great and awesome name—he is holy.

When God reigns in justice His people respond with praise. May we feel solemn yet joyful emotion, even as the earth trembles acknowledging God’s presence. God uses His power for justice and righteousness. We praise the terrible Avenger, as well as the loving Redeemer. Jesus Christ sits enthroned on the mercy-seat between the cherubim. There he hears our prayers and grants us salvation.

We praise You, Lord God our reigning and coming King. While the nations tremble and the earth quakes, You sit enthroned between the cherubim. You, Lord, are great; You are exalted over all peoples. We praise Your great and awesome Name! Holy are You!
