Remembering God's Greatness (Psalm 77), Part 1

The mood of Psalm 77 changes from lamentation to reflection, ultimately giving way to joyfully celebrating the greatness of God. God has not rejected His people forever; He will keep His promises.

Cries of the Heart (verses 1-9)

In our distance from God we wonder whether God has rejected us forever. When our distress inhibits our sleep and speech, we can remember God’s past acts of goodness. God will comfort His people. We may freely ask God questions. In our questions lies our hope. The God of mercy will free us from our misery. God’s descent to humanity has elevated humans to His level. May we remember God’s mercy and compassion.

Lord our God, we cry out to You for help; we cry out to You to hear us. In our distress we seek You, Lord. Help us to remember You, God, and to meditate on Your Word. Help us to remember Your mercy and compassion.
