An Urgent Prayer for Deliverance (Psalm 70), Part 3

Confidence in God (verses 4-5)

God is our help in trouble, and will deliver us out of it. May we place our confidence in God’s protection. Once He has delivered us and we have tasted God’s grace, we will feel joy, and share our joy by calling on others to glorify God.

God of all confidence, may all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You. We join those who long for Your saving help by saying, “The Lord is great!” Come quickly to us, O God. You are our help and our deliverer; Lord, do not delay. Praise You that You will help and deliver us.

Make haste, O God, my soul to bless!
My help and my deliv’rer thou;
Make haste, for I’m in deep distress,
My case is urgent; help me now.

Make haste, for I am poor and low;
And Satan mocks my prayers and tears;
O God, in mercy be not slow,
But snatch me from my horrid fears.

Make haste, O God, and hear my cries!
Then with the souls who seek thy face,
And those who thy salvation prize,
I’ll magnify thy matchless grace.
C. H. Spurgeon (1834-1892)
