Living the Righteous Life (Psalm 101, Part 3)

I Will Live Faithfully (verses 6-8)

6My eyes will be on the faithful in the land,
         that they may dwell with me;
      the one whose walk is blameless will minister to me.
7No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house;
         no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence.
8Every morning I will put to silence all the wicked in the land;
         I will cut off every evildoer from the city of the Lord.

May God forgive us for failing to concern ourselves with others’ faithfulness, and for letting our standards slip in private, where no-one but God can see. As people of integrity may we serve in the presence of our Lord Jesus. God’s grace will then make us truthful and create in us a horror of falsehood. In judgment God will punish the wicked, no matter how much money or power they have.

Thank You, loving God, for looking with favor on Your faithful followers. Help us to walk faithfully in the way that is blameless. Minister to us, Lord. Come to us, that we may walk before You with perfect hearts. Help us to faithfully live today in such a way that our only desire is to please You.

We can use the psalms as weapons against sin. By frequently returning to the psalms, we avoid worldly thoughts.

Sing, pray, and swerve not from His ways,
But do thine own part in conscience true;
Trust His rich promises of grace,
So shall they be fulfilled in you;
God hears the call of those in need,
The souls that trust in Him indeed.
