Worship the Lord with Gladness (Psalm 100, Part 2)

Praise: The Lord is Good (verses 4-5)

4Enter his gates with thanksgiving
         and his courts with praise;
      give thanks to him and praise his name.
5For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
      his faithfulness continues through all generations.

We are invited into God’s temple, where we unite in praising Him for His loving faithfulness to us. The source of all things good, we direct our thankful praise to God. His everlasting and unchangeable mercy motivates our praise. In His enduring mercy God gives life, delivers from evil, and empowers us. God remains faithful to His people because He has made a covenant to do so.

We praise You, Lord our God, because You are good. We enter Your gates with thanksgiving, and Your courts with praise! We give thanks to You; we bless Your name! Your steadfast love endures forever, and Your faithfulness to all generations.

Our joyful worship protects us from sinful presumption, guarding our hearts from selfish pride. May our gratitude deflect all glory and praise to God alone.

Let those refuse to sing
Who never knew our God
But children of the heavenly King
May speak their joys abroad.
Isaac Watts (1674-1748)
