God’s delivery of Israel illustrates
His faithfulness to His promises, reminding us of God’s blessing throughout
history. With the people of Israel we can praise God for all He has done and then
make known God’s deeds.
The Covenant (verses 1-15)

God put Himself under covenant bonds
to His chosen people. As Christians we belong to the descendants of Abraham,
inheriting their history, their God and their covenant. With praise we recall the
history of redemption and witness to those outside God’s covenant community. Since
all our benefits come from God, we give Him all our gratitude, making thanksgiving
our primary activity.
We
give thanks to You, Lord our God; we glory in Your holy name! We remember the
wonderful works that You have done. In Your mercy, Your covenant obligates
Yourself to be our God and to forgive our sins. We believe Your Word; give us strength
to persevere and serve You.
