We cannot escape our enemies and their evil work. We need to
listen for God’s voice through His Word. The perversion and corruption of our
society waits for God’s deliverance.
The waiting enemy (verses
1-5)

God will deliver His church from its waiting enemies—the world,
the flesh and the devil. In the meantime may God deliver us from our
indifference to Him, renewing our zeal. When our enemies attack us without
cause may we remember Jesus’ unfair treatment.
Protecting God, deliver us from our enemies;
be our fortress against those who attack us. Uphold us and cleanse us. Come to
help us, Lord God Almighty. Look at our condition and be sure to deliver us.
