As we pray for God’s mercy, He provides us a refuge from the
assaults of our spiritual enemies. Then we can praise the faithfulness of God,
who is exalted over the whole earth.
Prayer for our refuge (verses 1-6)

May we base our prayer for refuge under the shadow of God’s
wings on an understanding of God’s mercy. While God is above the heavens, His
glory fills the earth with His presence. We come to God once for salvation and
then repeatedly for help and protection. May our prayers express our desire for
the glory of God’s presence in the heavens and over the earth.
God of mercy, have mercy on Your body in
Jefferson County. We take refuge in You. Thank You for Your love and
faithfulness. Guide us by Your faithfulness. We exult You, Lord God. We praise
You for Your glory is over all the earth.
