God's Ultimate Judgment (Psalm 83, Part 3)

The Prayer of God’s People (verses 13-18)

Evil is restless, turning from one uncertainty to another. As we prayerfully submit to the will of our heavenly Father, we pray that our society will yield to His grace. May God probe the motives behind our prayers and change our pride and boasting to shame. May the shame of those who hate God’s people lead even these hostile people to seek to know God. Humbled by God’s mercy, may they turn to worship God. In the end God’s enemies will know that God is the Most High over all the earth. May all the nations come to know the Lord as sovereign Ruler.

Too often, Lord our God, we are like chaff before the wind. Help us to resist the wind of turmoil and be at peace in You. Probe the motives behind our prayers and change our pride and boasting to shame. Humble Your enemies around us by Your mercy and grace. We seek Your name. You alone, whose name is the Lord, are the Most High over all the earth.

When our spiritual foes try to destroy us, we can commit all to God and know that He will overcome them. Our song and worship rise from complaint to adoration.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
The trumpet call obey;
Forth to the mighty conflict
In this His glorious day:
Ye that are men, now serve Him
Against unnumbered foes;
Let courage rise with danger,
And strength to strength oppose.
