Rejoice in the Lord Our King (Psalm 97, Part 2)

The Heavens Rejoice (verses 6-9)

⁶The heavens proclaim his righteousness,

         and all peoples see his glory.

⁷All who worship images are put to shame,

      those who boast in idols—

         worship him, all you gods!

⁸Zion hears and rejoices and the villages of Judah are glad

         because of your judgments, Lord.
⁹For you, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth;

        you are exalted far above all gods.

The heavens rejoice because of God’s righteousness and glory. May all see the glory of Jehovah and worship God alone. As God’s people we recognize Him as our sovereign Lord. We therefore rejoice and give Him thanks. God’s judgments bring delight to those who worship Him. All powers will ultimately recognize God’s power.

Creator-God, the heavens rejoice in Your righteousness, and all peoples see Your glory. We hear and rejoice because of Your judgments. You are most high over all the earth; You are exalted far above all gods.
