Prayer for the King (Psalm 72) Part 1

Jesus the king now reigns in heaven and will return in the future to reign over the earth. His kingdom is everlasting and universal, in him are all the nations of the earth blessed. As we pray for the Church, his Body, we pray for Christ the king.

Christ’s reign endures forever—through all generations. Endowed with God’s justice and righteousness the king defends the oppressed. Christ’s reign restores the wholeness and balance that God originally intended for His creation. The poor are safe with him. May we allow his Holy Spirit to refresh our thirsty souls.

Our eternal King, thank You for sending Your royal Son to bring us righteousness. Praise You, God, that with the incarnation of Christ His everlasting reign has begun. We ask You to defend the afflicted and save the needy. Send us Your showers of refreshing through Your Holy Spirit.
