Praise for
the King (verses 15-20)
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2072:15-20&version=NIV
We
can offer songs of praise and thanksgiving to our king who blesses us with
righteousness and peace. The reciprocal relationship between the king and his
subjects is felt in the fertility of the land. As the people and land respond
to the king’s life-giving activities, his fame increases. May we give all our
praise to Jesus our exalted King of kings and Lord of lords. His name is
glorious, and his glory will fill the whole earth.
Praise You,
God our King all day long. Praise You that all nations will be blessed through
Christ. His name endures forever. Praise be to You, Lord God, who alone does
marvelous deeds. Praise be to Your glorious name forever; may the whole earth
be filled with Your glory. Amen and Amen.
The nation of Israel was a
theocracy—a nation ruled by God. Nations today are not theocracies. However, just
as God judged Israel’s monarchy for its failures to meet His standards of justice,
righteousness, mercy, and compassion; God continues to hold nations to His
standards. May we pray for the well-being of our national leaders that God grant
them the wisdom to see that justice ultimately comes from God.
All hail the
power of Jesus’ name!
Let angels prostrate fall,
Bring forth
the royal diadem,
And crown him lord of all.
Edward Perronet (1726-1792)
