Power of the King (verses 8-14)

God has given Christ power and authority to establish His reign throughout the earth. Christ rules justly over God’s people. The King, the Good Shepherd, rescues the defenseless from their adversaries and prosecutors. May we evidence Jesus’s reign in our lives by our compassion for the poor and needy. Like the Magi who gave tribute to the infant Messiah, may we, the richest of the rich count it joy to lay our treasure at Jesus’ feet.

Powerful God, thank You for the sovereign reign of Jesus Christ. May all kings and nations bow down to him. Thank You that Christ takes pity on and delivers the needy, the weak and the afflicted. Rescue them from oppression and violence. Thank You for Christ’s just rule over our lives.
